✌ Loopcam Launches New Web Platform and Announces Seed Financing Round ✌

OH HAI! In case you haven’t already seen the GREAT NEWS on Tech Crunch: Here’s a recap for yooou!

Sitting between photographs and video, addictive iOS app defines the future of visual communication and establishes a vision for the LOL graph.

Berlin, Germany, 01 May 2012 – Loopc.am is a new way for people to express themselves and share moments in short GIF-based video clips called loops. Loopcam has had a huge user boom in recent months and is now announcing support from some of Europe’s most influential tech leaders.

The Future of Visual Communication

Loopc.am captures a series of frames through an iPhone or iPad camera stop-motion style, which is seamlessly and quickly merged into an animation to share. This has obvious and addictive appeal to anyone who loves visual interaction – and is the perfect blend between still photographs and video.

The company, established in 2011 by founder Tor Rauden Källstigen, is today updating its web platform to engage more users and fuel the popularity of its fun and easy to use iOS app which enables quick capture and sharing of GIF-loops.

The Loopc.am iOS already has a strong fan base all over the world including celebrity users, for example musical producer Jermaine Dupri declared his love to fast food through a loop last weekend. The community is spread globally, but has most aggressive growth in the US, Sweden, UK and Germany.

New Web Platform & API Launched in Private Beta

In addition to revising its web platform to now include Polaroid-like embeddable widgets for blogs — the company is also announcing that an API is out in private beta, just ask for an invite on the company’s website, Loopc.am.

Seed Round Backed By Tech Leaders

Loopc.am’s seed financing round closed earlier this year was led by London-based Passion Capital. Joining Passion in supporting Tor and his team is a syndicate of premier angel investors including Zoe Adamovicz (Xyologic, Concise Software), Alexander Ljung (Soundcloud), Heilemann Ventures (Dailydeal), Christophe Maire (Txtr), Felix Petersen (Amen), Peter Read and Eric Wahlforss (Soundcloud). The new funds will be used for growing the team and accelerating product development, including expanding the Loopc.am app client to support other platforms.

The Secret Behind the Success — the LOL-graph

Founder Tor Rauden Källstigen said regarding today’s news “I’m thrilled to launch our new web platform to make the most of our Loopcam app and the fantastic loops created by our users. I am also extremely proud to have the backing of our investors to support our mission of defining the future of fun visual communications.”

Stefan Glaenzer, Partner at Passion Capital said “Tor has had a great vision for the LOL-graph over the past several years. Loopc.am is such a simple, yet addictive experience for self-expression – and easily sharing that across communities and to others who will appreciate the sense of humor – creating the LOL-graph. We can’t wait to see how the strong community – of celebrity users and non-celebs alike – continues to grow.”
